The boat shoe.....

We made a decision last year that if we were going to predict what shoe guys would be wearing next summer, it had to be the boat shoe. We saw glimpses throughout the previous summer collections but it never really ended up being available in many stores. At the time we backed it ahead of any other style of shoe for this SS2008 summer! They’ve recently gained a little bit more press in the Sunday supplements so the boat shoe will be the shoe to wear when (if) the sun arrives. Keep your eye out for the recently delivered YMC and the NDC styles!

New use for odd socks...

When attending my last appointment in Paris 2 weeks ago I saw a great look for the summer, again carried off by the Scandinavians....I previously mentioned the rolled-up trouser look. A number of the Acne Jeans team have taken it one step further by wearing brightly coloured socks which are highlighted by the rolled up trouser! Not only this but Acne have also organised a collaboration with English sock makers Pantherella to produce a selection of odd socks! For 15 quid I wouldn't expect everyone to rush out and buy them...but my advise is to mix the colours of the socks you already have....it can make a ordinary outfit look that little bit more interesting. So grab those odd socks from the back of the drawer...the brighter the better!

Roll it up.....

I thought it would be interesting to mention a few tips for the coming season. I saw a great way to wear your trousers or jeans for the next few seasons. The trend is very simple, just roll up your trousers (a little further than normal!) The SS08 and AW08 shows featured a number of the big names all pushing the rolled up trouser look. It was mentioned in the guardian fashion section over the weekend....but i first saw glimpses of it last summer nearly always carried off by the Scandinavians (...and the odd English guy!). In particular I went to dinner with 2 guys who owned a top independent shop in Copenhagen. The Scandinavians always seem to look so polished and as far as trends go, they seem to be as 'on the ball' as anyone. So lads if it's jeans, trousers or chinos you're wearing this season... roll them up!
