Alexander McQueen was born on March
17th 1969 in the East End of London. He landed a Saville Row apprenticeship with tailors Anderson and Shepherd before moving on to work for Gieves and Hawkes, where he got his name for being the 'bad boy' of British fashion. Alexander McQueen then applied was accepted at London St Martins College, graduating in 1991.
McQueen went onto to become the youngest person to win the prestigous 'British Designer Of The Year' in 1996, 1997 and again in 2001. He was appointed head designer at Givenchy in 1996, which caused some controversy.
McQueen launched his diffusion line named, 'Mcq by Alexander McQueen'off the back of his success with his premium mainline collection. The Alexander McQueen clothing collection has evident influences from the directional mainline collection.
