Grenson Shoes was originally named William Green and Son,
and was founded in 1866 by William Green, who employed skilled craftsmen to
fulfill his orders for his hand made shoes. William Green soon became recognized
as an expert in his field and even after is death in 1901. The company had been
left in a strong position to continue its growth. Shortly after his death in
1901, the Grenson footwear brand was born.
Grenson became the first brand registration in the UK in 1913 which emphasized its position
as a front runner in British shoe making, and allowed the company to grow from
strength to strength in the global shoe industry.
